The Vittamed 205 non-invasive ICP absolute value meter

The Vittamed 205 is the first non-invasive ICP meter capable of accurately, precisely and reliably measuring the absolute value of intracranial pressure (ICP) without the need for periodic calibration to the individual patient.

The Vittamed 205 monitor will allow clinicians to move from a complex invasive procedure applied to only the sickest patients with traumatic brain injuries to a much safer and simpler one that can be used in ambulatory and emergency care settings or even in sport and aerospace medicine. By avoiding the need to place a probe into the skull, the Vittamed 205 will avoid the related complications of infection, bleeding, and brain damage. Designed to be simple and rapid to use, the Vittamed 205 device is capable of digital displaying an ICP absolute value [ mmHg] reading in a few minutes.

Product specification

The non-invasive intracranial pressure absolute value meter has the following features:

• ICP range from 0 mmHg to 50 mmHg;

• Accuracy (SD) of +/-2.3 mmHg within the range of 0 mmHg to 50 mmHg;

• Uncertainty (2SD) of ICP measurements better than 5.0 mmHg;

• Ability to measure ICP from left and right sides of the head;

• Single-use orbital pressure cuff and head frame using non-allergenic contact components;

• 5-10 minute data acquisition time for each measurement, allowing frequent, snapshot measurements of ICP;

• Safe for patient transmission of ultrasonic power in the output - the same as in approved transcranial Doppler ultrasound devices;

• Ophthalmic artery location procedure guided by automatic algorithm;

• Fully automatic measurement procedure after location of two OA segments by operator.

With minimal training, a clinician will be easily able to fit monitor to a patient’s head and obtain accurate digital ICP measurement results in a few minutes. The device has been designed to be simple and rapid to use, requiring only a few steps to generate a result.
